Well my friends, for fun (and for blog fodder) I challenged myself to style my coffee table 3 ways! And since I have no shortage of weird and interesting things in my home I had a lot of fun. The first is a neutral look that could go in any home, the second is inspired by spring and the third has some mid-century modern finds that are near and dear to me. I hope you will enjoy having a look at what I did and perhaps get inspired to do some styling in your own home! Stay tuned for Looks Two and Three…

Look One
I love the scent of this Sea Salt and Citrus candle! I almost always have a candle lit when I am working at my computer and this one is one of my favourites. The candle e-lighter was a Christmas gift and I really like it! No fossil fuels, no plastic going in the garbage and no messy refilling! Just charge it up!
For this end of the coffee table, I added a Buddha statue and a vase with artificial bamboo stems. The vase was a thrifted find that I painted with a combination of graphite coloured paint and baking soda. Love how it turned out. It is inspired by the below from West Elm yet super affordable! Also check out it’s original orange glory…
- Black Vase (Similar to this one that I thrifted and painted!)
- Artificial Bamboo leaves
- Candle e-lighter
- River Birch Candle in Sea Salt and Citrus Candle (Available at Accents in PE)
- Buddha Head (similar), similar Seated Buddha
- and hiding in the background (in case you love it like I do) is a Debbie Travis Lantern from Giant Tiger
At the other end of the coffee table… you can never go wrong with a stack of hardcover books. These are 3 of my favourite design books topped with a hammered brass bowl and the classic string of wooden beads.
When styling your coffee table, keeping height in mind is key. The 3 items at the far end have staggered heights. None too high to block the view and ranging all the way down to almost table level. Colour is neutral here, other than the green which brings a needed pop. Black repeats adding a cohesive feel. Finally the trailing tassel, the curve of the vase and the leaves add movement. The eye wants to travel and that prevents things from looking “blocky” and creating a harsh feel. In the background is a classic Eames style lounge chair which I bought at an auction and had beautifully recovered in soft leather. Beside that is my golden horse because well, he was too weird and wonderful to pass up!
