We went to Owen Sound yesterday. What a fun little outing! I haven’t been there in a long time but I am here to tell you the downtown is definitely worth a trip!
We set off with the goal of checking out a gluten-free bakery my husband had heard about. Boon Bakery is on the Main Street and check it out we did! We came out of there with 2 kinds of cookies, cinnamon rolls, 2 loaves of bread, strawberry mochi, mocha cupcakes and pizza buns. Everything in the bakery is gluten and dairy free! My absolute favourites are the cinnamon rolls and the mocha cupcakes (to DIE for!). The mochi is super yummy too!
Whenever I walk into Bare Birch, I want to just buy up the entire place. It’s so soothing and comfortable. Everything is well made, calming and beautifully curated. I particularly loved the nautical chart art pictured below and the velvety Simcoe bench that I would love for the foot of our bed.
Heartwood Home is part antique store, part plant shop, part handcrafted shop, part coffee shop and all around cool! My daughter and I grabbed delicious coffees here and I may have to go back for the ceramic pheasants. I want my house to be a combo of Bare Birch and Heartwood Home.
I had no idea when I spotted Wild Flowers Consignment Shop that I was about to fall in love! This is the consignment shop I have been looking for! I could have gone so crazy in here! I bought a beautiful Allsaints Italian wool jacket, a velvety oversized fuzzy pink cardigan by Papillon and an InWear shirt with lace sleeves. I don’t think I will ever need to shop anywhere else.
My husband and daughter went into Milk Maid. With capacity issues, I stayed outside because it was busy in there! And I know why! Two words. Delicious Cheese. We came home with an aged 9 years cheddar and a caramelized onion cheddar. Both are amazing!
If you need a change of scene, I highly recommend a trip over to OS! It has a lot more to offer than I thought!
What are your favourite Owen Sound haunts? I’d love to hear!
