I think that what Mother’s really want for Mother’s Day is either some time alone or some time with their kids, depending on their stage in life. If you don’t see your Mom everyday, my gift suggestion is give her some of your time. Right now that might mean a long chat on the phone, but when we can get together again, why not set up a manicure or pedicure together, go for a walk or a hike if you are up to it, have tea or coffee or a beer together? Honestly, for me that would be the best gift (My kids are totally awesome and fun to hang out with of course! Biased?-Never) And for mother’s of littles, a little time to herself is always a treat. Maybe one of the books below and a half hour of uninterrupted time daily until she’s had time to finish. Dads, this mostly falls on your shoulders, I’m afraid.
If you’d like to give a gift as well, I have made some sugetions below:
For Mom’s that like to read, I would recommend any book from Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club. She has great taste in books. Of the books shown here, I have read the Alice Network and I can’t recommend it highly enough!
- The Chicken Sisters by Kj Dell’antonia
- The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward
- This is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel
- Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- The Alice Network by Kate Quinn

Top left pair even look like the classic “Alhambra” line from Van Cleef and Arpels. Cashmere is as classic as it gets, this one comes in 6 colours so you are sure to find one that mom will love. The cute little crossbody bag is reminiscent of the Hermes Kelly bag lending class to any outfit. Every thing but the sweater is $40 or less!

- Cashmere Sweater
- Cubic Zirconia Stud Earrings
- Cubic Zirconia and Mother of Pearl Earrings (Van Cleef and Arpels Alhambra dupe)
Gifts that Give Back. Mom will be so proud when she finds out her gift gave back! The bracelets are from World Vision Artisan collection and are fair trade, handcrafted gifts. The kantha throws are hand-stitched in Bangladesh from 6 layers of reclaimed sari fabric. The women who make them were previously living in the street or working in the sex trade or in a vulnerable situation at risk of such. There are a variety of sizes and styles and Canadians get 15% off with the code “Maple”
