Hello lovelies!
I thought I would share with you a little makeover I did at our cottage this year. Above is the after, below the before. (I really hope that did not require explanation, but I digress)
If you are very observant, and having a good look at that before picture, you may be wondering why I would let a toddler use my camera. You may also be wondering why the red with the minty green. Well, I shall tell you, friend, no need to wonder a moment longer. The reason is that I am cheap. And I was in a hurry. Did I mention that, on my side of the family alone, I have 6 nieces and nephews, a nephew-in-law, 3 siblings and partners, two kids, a dog, a dog-niece, parents, oh yeah and a husband? Phew, so we bought this cottage and had to cram in as many beds as possible. So when 2 red metal bunk beds popped up on Kijiji WITH MATTRESSES, I jumped on them. Well, not literally, of course, that would just be asking for a concussion. So we loaded as many parts and pieces as we could in and on top of my poor beleaguered Volvo wagon and the rest we WALKED home. Did I mention these bunk beds were only two blocks from our house? Amazing luck! I mean it is a small town, but COME ON! So my son and I walked the really large and awkward pieces the two blocks home. Come to think of it, that’s about the same time we started noticing people crossing the street when we approached.
Anyhoo… that is how we ended up with a red theme in a mint green room. But not any longer.
Now it’s got a fun tropical vibe. I started with the green, because who wants to paint it’s perfect for a cottage! I found some fun tropical print drapes and lumbar pillows (not pictured). I added a seagrass beach mat as a wall hanging behind the mirror and found some cute free printables for art. I trimmed out the full length mirror with MDF and painted it a deep green. Finally, I accessorized with a leaf dish for watches and jewelry and a gold leaf mounted on a marble block.
