OMG! I found the coolest houseboat ever! A 1913 houseboat built in the era of the Titanic. This lady needs some love but golly is she swoon-worth
With 2 suite style bedrooms, 4 cabin bedrooms and FIVE bathrooms. Thats more than I have in my HOUSE! Oh, and I counted at least 3 clawfoot tubs. Sigh.
One of the bedrooms has an actual flight of wooden stairs. This is basically a historic cabin that floats. (Well, floated at one time. She is currently aground and will need a barge to move her.) Can you imagine waking up surrounded by history and with water views out every window? Being rocked to sleep by the gentle waves?
The boat was built about 1913, the year the Titanic sank and also the year the first season of Downton Abbey was set. I can picture a scene from Downton Abbey here, the girls sashaying down this corridor. Wearing something fabulous, like the fashions below.
Unlike the ladies of Downton, there’d be no Mrs. Patmore but I’d be happy to cook in this cool kitchen. Maybe a some decluttering and a paint job though…
She wants me to buy her! I just know she does. Would you come and visit? We can dress like flappers and sip cocktails. Dance the night away on the dance floor under the stars and then sleep like babies, gently rocked by the waves.
