The other day I was sitting on the floor getting dressed as you do when you are having a roughish fibromyalgia day, when I noticed my box of shoes under the bed. Oh friends, my box of shoes! My lovelies. My dear darlings. Just sitting in the dusty box, patiently waiting for spring. What joy to remember what sat forgotten! I pulled them out and they made me happy. Is it wrong for shoes to make you happy (asking for a friend)?
These are not all of my shoes of course. Don’t be silly, there are more in the closet and under the dresser. These are the overflow shoes. I think I keep it reasonable though. I know people with more. I know people with less (at least I think I do) Any women out there with less than say, 32 pairs? (again, asking for a friend)
When my husband and I were dating, he said to me “You have a lot of shoes”. I disagreed. So we, being rational folk, decided to count them. There were 13 pairs. We both looked at each other thinking we had proved our respective points and said “See?”
For a while after that, we played a fun game where I would put on the completely wrong shoes for an outfit and present myself as ready to go out in public with him. I would laugh, proving how important the right shoes are and he playing his part, would roll his eyes. Ha, so funny! Oh he’s a lucky man!
At the time, I think he owned 4 pairs and that included his winter boots! But men and women are different. Men can get along with 1 pair each of: boots, loafers, sneakers, dress shoes and sandals. That is all! Crazy! Can you imagine having a multi-purpose dress shoe? No, my friend, you cannot because it is unfathomable. Please allow me to demonstrate…
Individually, these are all fine. Matched up like this? No. Just no.
Anyhoo… my shoes make me happy. Is that so wrong? In in the spirit of shoes making you happy, let’s have a gander at some of these spring beauties.
Left to right and top to bottom
- These slides would be great for work or play. I see them with cropped pants or jeans.
- If we were going to Mexico this year, these flat slip-ons would be coming with me! Easy to pack, I would wear them day to dinner with a summery dress
- Nothing says spring like espadrilles. These easy going shoes are great for days that are too cool for sandals.
- Ah the dressy sandal. Day or night they would rock so many looks!
- Spring-time pump. The mesh is cool (see what I did there?)
- The perfect shoe for a bride! Kitten heel and ankle strap mean you can dance all night!
- Sweet sneaks! Love these!
- Everyday sandal. I can see me wearing these out.
