For fun today, I asked my daughter (17) and niece (18) to find a”fit” (outfit) from Simons, a Canadian retailer. The challenge was that I would also pick out some “fits” and see how it all settled out.
Have you ever heard of Simons? I hadn’t until a friend introduced me to it. She had so many beautiful things in her home and many of them were from Simons. So, here’s a big “Thank-you Tammy!” Without you, well, I guess I wouldn’t know what I was missing, but I definitely would be missing out!
Just so you’re not missing out… Simons is a Canadian retailer carrying homewares and clothing. They have designer and regular goods in both categories. They also carry some child/baby items. With 5 “private labels” (their own clothing lines) there is something for everyone. One of their lines, Vision is eco-friendly and in addition you can search products by environmental benefit (for example, you can select water conscious, reduced emissions, recycled fibres, organic fibres and more). You can also select Canadian designers (if you have deep pockets) and made-in-Canada (for those with a budget more like mine) Some lines are more young and trendy, some are more classic and some are brands you know and love (Vero Moda for instance) And did I mention, they have been around since 1840? How is it that I have never heard of them? Well, now you have too. So lets get back to the fits, and see how I did…
Above are the looks for my daughter. Although her look below is more dressy then I chose, she did say she liked most of the items I selected. She was not a fan of the red romper and she said she’s okay with art on denim jackets but, that is not the art she would have gone for. Funny enough, my niece had looked at the green shirt and when you read on, you’ll find our taste in jeans is pretty bang on. Overall my daughter liked about 80% of the items above.
Clockwise from top left

- Tie waist shorts
- *ECO-FRIENDLY* Jeans
- Organic cotton striped top

As you can see, she went for a more mature look. She chose the blouse first and then searched for corset pants to work with the loose blouse. “Wow” on the price of those pants though, she ended up in the designer section when she did the corset pant search!
- Smocked RECYCLED Polyester Blouse
- Doc Martens
- Vivienne Westwood Corset Pants
- Gold-Plated Chain
- Rounded Zip Shoulder Bag
Overall, I was not as succesful in choosing for my niece. She did love the Jungle Scene Chucks, the sunglasses and the drawstring (white) blouse. Clockwise from top left

- Sleeveless Bouse
- Tie waist pant
- Lace-sleeve top
- Chuck Taylor Jungle Scene Sneaker
- Cantaloupe Alt Exploration 70 Sneaker

Here are my niece’s picks. Did you notice the jeans are the ones I chose for my daughter? My niece says she prefers her jeans skinny or really baggy but not between the two.
I think both girls have great taste! Love the looks they picked! Classy but still young, fun and stylish. A big thank you to those two for helping me out with the blog post today! If you enjoyed this post, you might also like If You Don’t Have Anything Nice to Say, Sit Next to Me – Sandals Edition
