With Love to my Mom on Mother’s Day!

Above is a picture from my much loved, late Aunt Lyn’s wedding day. My mom is the beautiful one not wearing a veil. My aunt is the beautiful one in the veil, my sister is the adorable and well behaved one and I am the sassy little thing with her hand on her hip. I believe this is the only picture of me that day other than the one of my uncle carrying me under his arm, kicking and no doubt shouting, into the church.

Dear Mom, sorry about that.

I wanted to properly thank my mom on my wedding day but I couldn’t get it out without crying. And anyway, as the song goes, “How do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume? It isn’t easy, but I’ll try” So, in lieu of a proper wedding day thank you, this one is for my mom…

Thanks Mom,

for putting up with me when I was a sassy kid, for holding my hair and rubbing my back all the times I was sick to my stomach, for keeping us clean, clothed and fed, for setting a good example, for worrying about us (but if you could try to stop now, that would be good), for going back to making my lunches and doing my laundry when I was trying to work 3 jobs to pay for university, for paying for the rest of of my university expenses, for looking the other way when I experimented with the “F word” (in my 20’s FYI), for comforting me when my heart got broken, for the fact that I think it broke your heart just as much, for teaching me how to be frugal, kind, and to not chew gum.

For so many more little and big things, thank you Mom! I love you.

To all the moms, the ones with little children, big children, the ones longing for children, remebering lost children, the moms doing all that moms do, but doing it during a pandemic…Happy Mother’s Day, we love you, hang in there!
